As I mentioned in the previous post, I’ve been talking about the Canary Islands in different schools.
My first one was at Komenského school. An impressive school building in the heart of the Kroméříž. I was really nervous, so when I got to the school I realized I had already forgotten my phone, some sweets I had prepared, and the keys of my flat. I could only but laugh at myself and, as we say in Spain, took the bull by the horns (face the situation).
The number of attendees was uncertain until the last moment. It was a big group in the end, plus several teachers from the schooI and even the headmaster himself. I already knew some of students, they come to my Spanish lessons, so I asked one of them to introduce me to the rest of the group.
This time I only had one hour, so I gave the presentation and afterwards students (13-15 years old) had to make a quiz with questions about it. I was really happy with their level of English in general. They made me lots of questions about the Canaries and about my life in the Czech Republic. I was also positively surprised at myself, because after the tension of the first five minutes, I felt really comfortable and self-confident. I received a big applause at the end and a box of chocolates.
The school also published something about this event: http://zskomenskeho.cz/travel-the-world-canary-islands-aneb-ze-skoly-az-na-kanary/

Two weeks later, I was invited by Oskol school to give the same presentation. This time I was accompanied by my coordinator and Georgia. It was the same program as the first time, but students were older (16-17) and a bit shier too.
Then I had the two big seminars at Zachar school (http://lernay.weebly.com/-evs/canary-islands-in-the-czech-schools-part-i), and finally Canary Islands for my English students and the children from English Club at Klubičko!!
For the smaller ones (7 y.o) I adapted the activities after the presentation. They had to stick the seven islands with their names as they are in the map. And afterwards they had to draw what called their attention about the Canaries.

These amazing drawings will illustrate the stories that kids from Zachar are writing about the adventures of Klubicko in the Canary Islands. I'm looking forward to reading them =D
