To the north of Brno there is the protected area of the Moravian Kast. My friend Lenka and her family took me there for a trip to go deep into the core of Earth (ok, maybe not that deep, but pretty much). We visited Kateřinska Jeskyně (The Catherine’s cave). The legend says that there was a shepherdess called Kateřina who entered into the cave when she was looking for her lost sheep, but she lost her way in the underground and never found her way back.
From outside it looks like another mountain but very soon you notice that there is something intriguing about it. They say that the entrance looks like a the ”gothic” portal, judge for yourselves. This was only the prelude to the amazing natural monument inside. Once you get into the cave, you walk through a sixty-metres-long corridor which leads to the Main Dome. Suddenly the music started to sound, acoustics were impressive in here, in fact they use this part of the cave as a concert hall. It was getting colder and colder, darker and darker. As we continued through the cave, we saw the museum of stalagmites and stalactites which had been whimsically shaped by nature: a bamboo forest, the different characters of the fairy tales, and the symbol of the Kateřina´s cave, the Witch lit in colours. The beauty of patience, natural magnificence that we are not used to see. I could only feel admiration and humbleness.

After this visit, we walked around 4 kilometres through the forest up to the biggest gorge in Central Europe: the Macocha Abyss. After the breathtaking views and short break in our trip, it started to rain. We had to walk the same way back to the cars, so we decided it was time go. We were stomping in the forest when the storm started: RUUUUN! A proper electric storm, Lenka and me started running and singing "prší, prší" (rain rain), a czech children’s song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1H9hCmrxGE, it was fun!!
After lunch, we wanted to visit a second cave, the one with a lake inside but we were late. So since the sun had come out again, we sat outside of the cave when we saw wedding guests coming out of it, and then the couple. People get married in caves!! It must be so beautiful!
PD: Pictures were not allowed inside of the cave (or at least not for free), so I took the two pictures above from the web.
One more time, thank you so much, my lovely Lenka, for the GREAT day !!!
